Traveling with Deutsche Bahn has never been this entertaining! The DB is expanding its digital on board “ICE Portal” regularly. This also includes an on demand video streaming service. In earlier years DB used the external content provider Maxdome to bring videos on demand (VoD) to their customers but in 2021 they decided to become their own provider. From the ground up. Project
We were tasked to create a whole new VoD system, improving on the known and expanding possibilities for DB and their customers. From UX to UI, from frontend to backend, from HTML to PHP, from how the video will be played to how the video even gets on every train’s server. We were able to create an evolved experience in a couple of months. I was part of the team during the pitch phase.
Challenge
The biggest challenge in our department was the lack of time. The pitch request came in very late. We only had about one week to present a very detailed concept. Including UX and UI. We presented, we won, we delivered.
