ARD is the biggest public-sector broadcaster in Germany. Their media content is fee-financed by the public and is broadcasted to every TV and radio in Germany. The content is also available via their regular streaming platform “daserste.de” but due to licensing cost, some content is only available for a short amount of time. To circumvent these limitations the ARD wanted to offer a service where content would be available much longer, in addition to other exclusively online content. So the idea of “ARD Plus” was born – an additional streaming platform of ARD, financed by a subscription model.
Project
My task was to create a concept that incorporates all the required features, while also taking the design of “daserste.de” into account.
Challenge
ARD produces movie-like series, like “Tatort” that require more distinct filtering, sorting and content discovery options, then the usual streaming platform. Fans of “Tatort ” might want to watch each episode chronologically, or only the episodes that take place in specific cities, or the ones with specific cast members.
